Client

TESLA

Location

Silver Spring, MD

Year Completed

2023

Scope

  • Interior selective demolition

  • Asbestos abatement

  • Utility coordination

  • Floor slab cutting and removal

  • Universal waste removal

TESLA selected RemacUSA to support an interior retrofit and upgrade of its existing service center in Silver Spring. The facility required non-structural demolition, hazmat remediation, and concrete cutting to prepare for new EV maintenance and charging equipment.

The project demanded work around live electrical service, active charging stations, and retained architectural finishes, all while adhering to TESLA’s brand and operational standards.

Services Performed

Selective Interior Demolition

Removed partitions, suspended ceilings, electrical conduit, and non-load-bearing walls—without affecting adjacent operating areas or showroom spaces.

Asbestos Abatement

Floor tile mastic and pipe insulation were removed under full containment with air clearance testing and MD Dept. of Environment (MDE) reporting.

Concrete Saw-Cutting & Removal

Performed precision cutting of slab-on-grade for new trenching and floor drains needed for EV maintenance bays.

Universal Waste Removal

Safely packaged and disposed of exit signs, fluorescent bulbs, batteries, and mercury thermostats per EPA requirements.

Utility & Safety Coordination

Worked closely with site electricians and TESLA safety managers to coordinate power shutdowns, access limits, and fire watch procedures.

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge

TESLA needed to remain partially operational during the work, and demolition was taking place around sensitive electrical and charging infrastructure.

Solution

RemacUSA executed work in off-hours and weekends, used containment and dust suppression barriers, and followed strict lockout/tagout procedures around energized panels.

Final Outcome

The project was completed on time, on budget, and with zero safety incidents. TESLA’s site superintendent and general contractor praised RemacUSA’s ability to adapt quickly, maintain cleanliness, and uphold high environmental and safety standards throughout the project.
