The property at 2611 Hoffman Mill Road had been vacant and condemned for several years. The deteriorating structure posed a safety risk and environmental concern for the surrounding rural area. Carroll County contracted RemacUSA to safely demolish the home, remove any hazardous materials, and restore the site for future municipal use or preservation.

Services Performed

Asbestos Abatement

  • RemacUSA conducted a pre-demolition asbestos survey and removed ACMs, including floor tile, mastic, and duct insulation under containment protocols.

  • Clearance air sampling was performed post-abatement per Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) standards.

Structural Demolition

  • The home and attached structures were mechanically demolished using an excavator equipped with a grapple.

  • Debris was sorted and transported off-site for disposal or recycling.

Utility Disconnection & Coordination

Electrical, gas, and water lines were identified and disconnected in coordination with local utility companies prior to demolition.

Site Restoration

RemacUSA backfilled the site with clean fill, compacted and graded the area, and installed seed and straw to prevent erosion and promote regrowth.

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge

The structure was in advanced deterioration and required safe handling to prevent collapse during abatement.

Solution

The RemacUSA team sequenced abatement and demo activity carefully, reinforcing weak areas until ACMs were safely removed and demolition could proceed.

Final Outcome

The demolition and abatement were completed ahead of schedule and under budget, with all county and environmental documentation submitted. The property is now a clean and stable parcel, free of environmental hazards.

Carroll County Government praised RemacUSA for our safety-first execution, communication, and professionalism throughout the project.
