Year Completed

2025

Scope

  • Demolition of out-of-use buildings

  • Asbestos & lead abatement

  • Universal waste removal

  • Site safety controls & water management

The BARC campus is one of the largest agricultural research facilities in the world. RemacUSA, Inc. was contracted to demolish obsolete buildings to prepare the site for future development, while managing extensive environmental hazards in aging infrastructure.

Services Performed

Structural Demolition

Careful takedown of multi-story masonry and steel-framed buildings using precision equipment to minimize impact to nearby facilities.

Asbestos Abatement

Removal of pipe insulation, floor tile, roofing materials, and contaminated debris under full containment procedures in accordance with NESHAP standards.

Lead-Based Paint Handling

Stabilization, removal, and compliant disposal of painted materials, with proper surface prep and final clearance.

Universal Waste Disposal

Removal of mercury-containing bulbs, thermostats, and other regulated materials.

Water Management & Safety

Standing water was present in multiple basements; RemacUSA pumped and filtered water, secured permits, and ensured worker protection in potentially contaminated zones.

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge

Heavy water accumulation in basement areas exposed asbestos materials and created a contaminated slurry.

Solution

RemacUSA implemented controlled pumping and HEPA-filtered negative air systems. All debris was hand-bagged or wet-vacuumed under negative pressure to prevent airborne fiber release.

Materials Recycled

  • Structural steel salvaged and transported to licensed recycler

  • Clean concrete crushed and reused as fill

  • Scrap piping and conduit separated as non-ferrous

Final Outcome

RemacUSA, Inc. successfully completed the demolition and environmental remediation of all buildings under USDA Contract No. 12305B24C0028, valued at $1,655,320. The project was delivered ahead of schedule and in full compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

All abatement work passed independent third-party clearance testing. Demolition debris was processed, documented, and disposed of at licensed Subtitle C and Subtitle D facilities. Recyclable metals and clean concrete were diverted from landfill through approved recycling channels.

The USDA expressed full satisfaction with RemacUSA’s performance, citing excellent communication, adherence to safety protocols, and efficient coordination with onsite personnel and inspectors.
