Garrett Park is a historic, residential enclave in Montgomery County with strict architectural preservation standards and strong environmental oversight. The town commissioned the removal of a deteriorating structure that had become a safety concern but required the work to be completed with minimal impact on surrounding properties and town infrastructure.

The structure sat on a narrow lot surrounded by mature trees and neighboring homes with limited access.

REMAC used smaller equipment, operated within limited hours to respect noise ordinances, and coordinated with town officials and neighbors to minimize disruption.

REMAC completed the project on time, without incident, and with full satisfaction from the Town Council and adjacent property owners. The work demonstrated REMAC’s ability to adapt its demolition and abatement methods to small-scale, community-sensitive projects.

PRE-DEMO ENVIRONMENTAL SURVEY

  • Identified lead-based paint and universal waste in accordance with Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) regulations.

LEAD ABATEMENT

  • Stabilization and removal of lead-painted wood siding, windows, and trim using containment and air-monitoring protocols.

DEMOLITION OF RESIDENCE

  • Full takedown of a two-story wood-frame home, including chimney and foundation. Work included dust control, erosion prevention, and removal of footings.

TREE & LANDSCAPE PROTECTION

  • Installed root zone barriers and fencing to protect specimen trees and gardens on adjacent properties. Maintained street cleanliness daily.

SITE GRADING & CLEANUP

  • Final grading performed to match surrounding elevation. Clean fill imported. Site left ready for future landscaping or construction.
